For Vibro Bio Energy in Manga Mandi, Lahore, SEMZON Engineering built a 2-ton-per-hour biomass wood pellet production line. The plant turns wood waste into dense, uniform pellets that burn cleanly in industrial boilers and furnaces.

From wood waste to pellet fuel

A pellet line has to do three things well: make the particles small and even, bring the moisture into a narrow window, and compress the material hard enough that the pellets hold together. Every section of the Vibro Bio Energy plant is built around those three goals.

  1. Crushing – large pieces of wood are broken down so the grinder receives a steady, even feed.
  2. Grinding – a hammer mill reduces the material to fine sawdust-sized particles.
  3. Cleaning – stones, sand and metal are removed before they can damage the die.
  4. Drying – a rotary dryer with cyclone and blower brings the material down to the moisture level needed for pelleting.
  5. Mixing and pelleting – ring die pellet mills press the conditioned material into pellets.
  6. Cooling and packing – a counterflow cooler hardens the pellets before they are bagged.

Why drying decides pellet quality

Wood that is too wet will not bind and blocks the die; wood that is too dry wears the die quickly and produces dusty, brittle pellets. That is why the rotary dryer and its cyclone are sized carefully for the raw material and the climate – drying is the section that most often limits the output of a biomass plant.

Who uses biomass pellets

Textile mills, food processors, poultry farms and other industries with boilers or hot-air generators use pellets to replace part of their coal, gas or furnace oil. Pellets are easy to store and feed automatically, and they are made from residues that would otherwise be burnt in the open or dumped.
