Keep Your Mills Running

The ring die and rollers are the heart of a pellet mill, and hammers and screens decide what a hammer mill can do. When they wear, output and pellet quality drop. SEMZON supplies the wear parts and machined components that bring your machines back to full performance.

We supply ring dies for SZLH pellet mills from 350 mm to 768 mm, roller shells and assemblies, hammer mill beaters and screens with holes from 1 mm to 5 mm, conditioner paddles, shafts, gears and custom machined parts. Die hole size and compression ratio are selected for your product — poultry, cattle, fish feed, biomass or fertilizer.

For other machine brands, send us the drawing or your old part and our engineers will confirm what we can manufacture.

Process flow

How a Ring Die Is Made

Eight controlled steps turn an alloy steel forging into a ring die ready to fit. The numbers on the diagram match the steps below.

Step by step

Stage-by-Stage Process

Step 1

Alloy steel blank

The die starts as a forged ring of wear-resistant alloy steel, checked for size and material before machining.

Step 2

CNC turning

The ring is rough- and profile-turned on CNC machines to the die’s outer and inner diameters and mounting faces.

Step 3

Gun drilling

Die holes are drilled to the specified diameter and pattern. Hole size and effective length set the compression ratio.

Step 4

Countersinking

Hole inlets are countersunk and relief bores machined so material enters smoothly and pellets release cleanly.

Step 5

Heat treatment

Hardening and tempering give the die surface the hardness it needs for a long working life.

Step 6

Grinding & polishing

Working surfaces are finished and the holes polished for easy start-up and smooth pellet surfaces.

Step 7

Quality inspection

Hardness, dimensions and hole finish are checked before the die is approved for dispatch.

Step 8

Packing & delivery

Dies are protected against rust and shipped in crates, ready to fit on site.

Questions

Straight answers to the questions our engineers hear most about dies & tooling.

Still have questions?

Talk directly with our engineering team for a tailored consultation.

How do I choose the right ring die?

The die must match your pellet mill model and your product. Hole diameter sets the pellet size, and the hole’s effective length (compression ratio) depends on the material — biomass and fertilizer need different dies from poultry feed.

Die life depends on the material, raw material cleanliness, roller gap setting and operation. Removing stones and metal before pelleting, correct break-in and regular roller adjustment extend die life considerably.

Send us the drawing, the part number or your worn part. Our engineers will check dimensions and material and confirm whether we can manufacture it.

Yes. We supply hammer beaters and screens for SMSP hammer mills, with screen holes from 1 mm to 5 mm to suit mash, pellet and biomass grinding.
